These are the picture books I had the pleasure of reading this week...
10 Little Mummies by Philip Yates
This book has great rhyming sentence structure. 10 little mummies deep underground in their tomb are very bored! They all go out for an adventure, then one by one they leave. One gets adopted, one gets heat stroke, one is arrested etc. Soon there is only 1 left & she is sad. But she goes back to the tomb & all her friends are there! Maybe they will go on another adventure tomorrow?
Drumhelier Dinosaur Dance by Robert Heidbreder
I LOVE dinosaurs so I will read any book with dinosaurs in it pretty much. There are dinosaur bones buried underground & at night they all come out to dance! Eventually the kids come & hang out with the dinosaurs before they all wake up & the dinosaurs go back. This book has music sounds that repeat which would be great for kids to do while you read the story.
Me Want Pet by Tammi Sauer
Cave Boy has rocks, sticks, & a club but no pet! One day he finds a woolly mammoth but his mom won't let him keep him. Then he finds a saber-tooth tiger but his dad is allergic to cats. The he finds a baby dodo bird but he is not potty trained so grandma says no. One day there is a stampede & all of Cave Boys animals friends come to the rescue so...he gets to keep them all as pets!
Amos Camps Out by Susan Seligson
I was immediately attracted to this book because of the cover...a dog on a couch in the woods. Amos is an old dog who spends most of his time on the couch. He discovers that his couch can move so all day he goes out on adventures. One day his family decides to go camping & they take Amos & the couch with them. Amos experiences all kinds of new things in the woods like fishing, mosquitoes, & bears! It's not long before they go back home & Amos decides that he liked camping so he camps out in the backyard.
Secrets of Winter by Carron Brown
This is one of our new picture books, we got several like this. You hold the book u to the light or use a flashlight to shine it through the pages & see hidden pictures Each book we got has a different theme. In this book you get to see different woodland animals & snowflakes through the hidden windows.
