Picture Books I Read This Week (February 26th - March 2nd)

I've done this post 3 or 4 other times & I'm hoping to make it a weekly thing if I can remember. I don't count these books on Goodreads or for any of my challenges I just read them for fun.

Cat Knit by Jacob Grant
This book is adorable!!! Its very simple so perfect for little ones. The basic premises is Cat meets Yarn & they like to play but Girl wants Yarn for herself. Soon Cat realizes that Yarn has changed (into a sweater). Cat doesn't think he likes Yarn anymore so he goes outside to get away from Girl that made him wear Yarn. Cat manages to get Yarn off but then he is cold in the snow so he changes his mind. Then Cat ends up with lots of Yarn (a sweater, mittens, & a hat) but it's ok now.

Turtle Island by Kevin Sherry
This book was very cute & it teaches kids about friendship. Turtle is giant-he is as big as an island. But the ocean is big too & it is also lonely. One day turtle meets his new friends, they all laugh & play together. Soon they miss their families so they decide to go home. Turtle is lonely again. But his friends come back with their families & they bring some more giant turtles with them. Everyone has friends now!

Grandpa Green by Lane Smith
The pictures in this book are beautiful & it uses a great sense of imagination to describe Grandpa's life through pictures of topiaries.  Grandpa Green has had a great life full of memories & adventures. Sometimes he forgets but the garden remembers!

Hattie & Hudson by Chris Van Dusen
I loved this book! It has more words than most so it's an older age picture book. Hattie takes her canoe out on the lake every day for an adventure. One day Hattie is singing a song & a monster comes from the deepest part of the lake. She decides to name the lake monster Hudson. But the town people saw Hudson on the lake & they want to take him away. Hattie doesn't want that so she hatches a plan so Hudson can stay & the town loves him too.

I'm Trying to Love Spiders by Bethany Barton
This book is funny & it also has interesting spider facts mixed in. The person telling the story doesn't like spiders...obviously. But if they think about how cool spiders are they might like them. Did you know there are over 40,000 known species of spiders? Spiders use their venom to digest their food, they are related to scorpions & ticks, & they have billion of tiny hairs on their legs called scopulae. After each fact a spider appears & the narrator encourages the reader to hurry & squish it.
